What is GlobalMinds?

GlobalMinds is a mental health research programme powered by people. By bringing together thousands of people with lived experience, we are creating a unique research resource that will help researchers learn more about depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and related mental health conditions.

By taking part, you'll be contributing to research that helps shape the future of mental health care, supporting new discoveries that improve understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and support for people affected by mental health conditions.

Why Your Participation Matters

Millions of people are affected by mental health conditions, yet mental health receives less than 1% of global research funding.

This has left healthcare for these conditions stuck in the past:

Diagnosis can take years

Treatments target symptoms, not underlying causes

Half of the prescribed drugs cause severe side effects

By taking part, you can help drive progress towards better outcomes for people living with mental health conditions.

Who Can Join GlobalMinds?

Every participant helps make GlobalMinds possible. To take part, simply check whether the points below apply to you.

You are aged 18 or over

You have a diagnosis of depression, schizophrenia, bipolar or a related condition

You live in one of the regions currently recruiting (Check our Taking Part page for details)

You have access to an email address to join and receive study updates.

Create your GlobalMinds Hub account (Estimated time: 2 minutes)

Review information about the study and check if you are eligible

(Estimated time: Under 5 minutes)

Sign a consent form and complete a questionnaire about you
(Estimated time: 15-20 minutes)

Provide a saliva or blood sample – it's your choice

As a thank you for your time, you'll receive:

A £25 voucher when you provide a saliva sample
A £50 voucher when you provide a blood sample

You can choose to receive the voucher yourself or donate it to a charity of your choice.
